Oscar Knowles

I would describe myself as a confident, approachable, dedicated individual. I thrive in competitive environments, always aiming to push myself to the limits and deliver under pressure moments. My work ethic, commitment to improvement and respect for the game will help both in and out of the game of golf.

I began playing golf at the age of five when my dad first took me to our local par-3 course in Stokesley. Even at that young age, I showed strong promise for the game. By the time I was eight, I was competing regularly, taking part in U.S. Kids Golf events around the world and performing to a high standard.

Over the last few years, as I have physically grown, my speed and distances have increased significantly, while I have maintained a sharp short game that has been a strength since I was young. Having not worked with a coach throughout my golfing career so far, I have made my improvements independently. This has helped me develop a deeper understanding of my own game and learn how to practise and prepare effectively for tournaments.

My favourite golfer is Bryson DeChambeau because he has never been afraid to be different in a sport rooted in tradition. He has brought positive change to the game by showing that thinking differently, working hard, respecting both fans and competitors, and maintaining self-belief can truly set you apart.

At A Level I am studying Maths, Business and PE, with the goal of pursuing a career in business. I am particularly fascinated by selling and trading at the highest levels. Studying business is equipping me with the strategic, financial and leadership skills needed to start and grow my own business in the future.

I enjoy both watching and playing sports such as cricket and rugby, and I also value spending quality time with my friends and large family.
